How the journey began…

Hi, my name is Dan, and together with my girlfriend Gemma, we have been touring the UK from the Scottish Highlands, Wales, Northern Ireland, and all the way down to the South of England. It all began on 11th July 2012 when we met up to begin our travels, in Scotland’s Capital City of Edinburgh. It has so much to offer, beautiful architecture and friendly locals.

Edinburgh:

Status: City of Edinburgh Council Area, City, Capital of Scotland

Date: 11-12/07/2012

Travel: First Transpennine Express (Carlisle – Edinburgh Waverley), Virgin Trains (Edinburgh Waverley – Carlisle)

Eating & Sleep: Travelodge – Edinburgh Central, Pizza Hut, Frankie & Benny’s

Attractions: Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Greyfriars Bobby, Calton Hill with Memorials, The Forth Bridge, Scottish National Museum, Scottish National Gallery, Royal Mile (Links Holyrood with the Castle), Princes Street Shopping, Princes Street Gardens etc

To start this blog is a photograph show casing one of the most interesting parts of the city, Edinburgh Castle. Since then we have visited Edinburgh a few more times, so we have various photos.

The other photo shows how beautiful the city centre looks at night, taken from atop Calton Hill. In view are the castle at the very back, the station hotel with its clock tower, and Edinburgh old town rising above and behind it.Image
